I recently started a renovation project on a historic building in New Orleans. Some of the floors were sloping, so we decided to get some opinions from three house leveling companies. One company came in, looked around and said, "It's an old building and these things start shifting over time, so I would just let it be because it has probably finished moving." Another company came in a recommended replacing a sill and some sections of the chain wall. Luckily for me, Brent from Academy was on my list and he came by for an inspection. He suggested replacing the same sill, a little more of the chain wall, and all of the support piers. I always ask an expert, "If this was your (house, car, computer, etc.) what would you do? Brent pointed at a wall in the living room and said if it was his home, he would want to know what was going on inside that wall. Based on my interactions with these three companies, it was clear to me that Brent was the most knowledgeable. So, even though it was not planned, or in the budget, we opened the wall Brent pointed out. I think I can say that Brent saved the structure based on the damage we found. Throughout the process Brent was excellent to work with. He adjusted his teams schedule and financial costs anyway he could to help us complete what was not expected or budgeted for.
