Piling Replacement Three Rivers

he solid wood poles used in piling foundations are pressure-treated with a powerful preservative. But over time, this treatment loses its ability to withstand the harsh marine environment. Decay and damage is inevitable. When the base of a pile is weakened by rot, the house is threatened by a serious structural failure. Our customer caught this just in time before some serious problems occurred to the homes foundation. We removed the bottom of the piling approximately 24″ below grade and 12″ above grade and poured isolated footings reinforced with #5 rebar tied into the original piling.The piling was then encapsulate with concrete filled 16″ x 16″ CMU blocks retrofitted with Simpson Strong-Tie hurricane straps. Notice the top of the pier the concrete is sloped to prevent water from standing.
